Xbox's 25th anniversary gifts include free dynamic themes and avatars
Ahead of its 25th anniversary, Xbox is offering players a special badge and community-designed artwork for profiles. The freebies are available until the end of the year.
Xbox is gearing up to celebrate its 25th anniversary this fall, and players are being treated to a set of free digital gifts. The previously announced translucent green Xbox Series X console, however, is not included in the giveaway.
Anyone who signs in to Xbox on a console, PC, or the Xbox mobile app between now and the end of the year will receive a special 25th anniversary badge. The company has also partnered with two community creators, Klobrille and Ben Kenobi, who have designed Xbox-themed artwork for use as gamerpics, themes, or dynamic backgrounds.
The artwork is available starting today. On consoles, users can navigate to Settings > Profile > Customize profile to pick a new gamerpic or theme. For a dynamic background, they can go to Settings > General > Personalization > My background > Dynamic background.
On the Xbox app for PC, the free items can be found under the View Profile menu. Clicking the pencil icon updates the gamerpic, while the Customize profile option changes the theme.
Game Pass will also shine a spotlight on some iconic titles from Xbox's 25-year history, including Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4, and Psychonauts 2. Additional announcements are expected on Xbox's dedicated website in the months leading up to November 15, the official anniversary date.
The celebration comes amid a difficult period for Xbox fans, as the company has seen numerous game cancellations and job losses across its studios, including teams responsible for some of the games being highlighted. It remains to be seen if the leadership can produce more positive headlines soon.
