YouTube Music adds AI features for conversational music and podcast discovery
YouTube Music is rolling out two new AI-powered features — a conversational music search tool and a personalized podcast discovery guide. Both updates are coming soon to YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers worldwide.

YouTube is introducing two new AI-powered features to YouTube Music aimed at helping listeners discover music, learn about artists, and find podcasts they might otherwise miss. The updates were announced at this year's Made On YouTube event.
Conversational search
The first feature, called "Ask Music," is built directly into the YouTube Music app and lets users describe what they want to hear in everyday language rather than searching for specific songs or artist names. It works across YouTube Music's catalog of more than 300 million songs, including official recordings, remixes, live performances, covers, and DJ sets.
Users can rely on it to build custom listening queues, explore what inspired an artist, or dig into music history. For example, someone could ask the tool to build a mix based on the tracks that influenced a particular song, or ask detail-oriented questions such as who played bass on a specific recording.
Personalized podcast guide
The second feature, "Your Podcast Lineup," is a personalized, AI-generated audio guide for discovering podcasts. It addresses a familiar problem: there are simply more shows than most people have time for, and even listeners with an established list of favorites can miss new episodes or shows they might enjoy.
The feature will appear on the podcast page within the app and will provide a short weekly spoken preview of recommended shows, explaining why each might appeal to the listener before moving directly into suggested episodes.
Spotify recently took a similar direction with its own AI feature that generates personalized podcast episodes based on listener interests. The new YouTube Music features are part of the platform's broader push to weave AI throughout its services — last year, YouTube Music tested AI-powered music hosts that offered stories and commentary tied to what users were listening to. Both new features are coming soon to YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers worldwide.
