Latvian goalkeeper Zariņš still benched in Swedish floorball league, Krūmiņš left out of squad
In round two of Sweden's floorball Superliga, Latvian national team goalkeeper Pontus Zariņš again remained on the reserve bench, while defender Morics Krūmiņš was left out of his club's squad entirely. IBF Falun and Storvreta IBK lead the table after two rounds.
After two rounds of Sweden's floorball Superliga, IBF Falun and Storvreta IBK have moved to the top of the standings as other clubs have already begun dropping points.
A tough round for the Latvians
Latvian national team goalkeeper Pontus Zariņš, who was the undisputed starter for FBC Kalmarsund last season, again sat out as a reserve in the club's second match. The team itself, however, is performing well: after an overtime win against Linkoping IBK, Kalmarsund followed up with a commanding 15:5 victory over IBK Dalen, a club newly returned to the Superliga. The result lifted Kalmarsund into third place. Viljams Forsmans Eklunds was the top performer with three goals and two assists, while Viktors Vetergrēns added two goals and two assists, putting him second in the league's scoring list.
Meanwhile, defender Morics Krūmiņš was not included in Warberg IC's squad for round two at all. The club suffered its second defeat of the season, losing 4:6 away to Jonkopings IK. The hosts had built a 5:1 lead by the end of the second period, and although Warberg scored twice in the final minute while playing without a goalkeeper, it was not enough to change the outcome. Jonkoping's Oskars Rolīns stood out with two goals and two assists.
Elsewhere in the league
Storvreta IBK beat pre-season title contender Linkoping IBK 9:4 away, leaving Linkoping in 11th place with just one point after two rounds. IBF Falun defeated Pixbo IBK 7:3, avenging its narrow shootout win over the same opponent in the Czech Open final. Nykvarns IBF won 6:5 in overtime against Mullsjo AIS after trailing by three goals, while Vaxjo IBK earned its first win of the season, beating newcomer IBK Lund Elit 7:5. Visby IBK defeated AIK 5:4, an important result for two teams expected to battle against relegation this season.
