Deadline reported on Thursday that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie will feature Australian actor Uli Latukefu as the villain Ganondorf. The publication also notes that Latukefu has signed a multi-picture deal.

Neither Nintendo nor Sony have formally confirmed that more than one movie is in the works, though rumors have suggested the companies might be planning a trilogy. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if more Zelda movies were on the way, especially given the huge success of the recent Super Mario films at the box office.

Nintendo first announced the live-action Zelda movie, which it's making with Sony Pictures Entertainment, back in 2023, with Wes Ball directing and Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad producing. Last year, Nintendo revealed that Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth had been cast as Princess Zelda and Link, respectively. The movie is scheduled for release on April 30, 2027, and production has officially wrapped.

Nintendo is also preparing a major new Zelda game: the company has announced a Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time set to launch sometime in 2026.
