Zelensky's adviser: Ukraine will not be left without internet despite Russian strikes
The Ukrainian president's technology adviser said that despite Russian attacks on network infrastructure, Ukraine as a whole will not lose internet access, though service prices may rise.
Serhii "Flash", adviser to Ukraine's president on defense technology development, said that despite Russian strikes on network infrastructure, the whole of Ukraine will not be left without internet, since the country's internet channels are highly distributed.
Writing on Facebook, he said Russia is attacking Ukraine's information network infrastructure, but because Ukraine's internet channels are maximally decentralized, the entire country — regions and cities alike — will not lose internet access. Local outages are possible, which he expects providers to resolve quickly.
Prices may rise
The adviser added that the cost of internet services could increase to help cover repairs to damaged infrastructure.
Previous attacks
Following Russia's September 24 attack on data centers in Kyiv, several internet providers reported infrastructure damage and service disruptions. Earlier, a September 23 strike on the capital damaged data centers belonging to internet providers UTELS and Pavutina.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia struck Ukrainian data centers in an effort to disrupt the flow of information that saves lives by providing rapid warnings of missile and drone threats.
