Zelenskyy confirms Ukrainian strikes near St Petersburg, hitting oil infrastructure and Kronstadt
Ukrainian forces carried out long-range strikes on facilities near St Petersburg over 850 km from the border, targeting port oil infrastructure and the military site of Kronstadt, President Zelenskyy announced.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine's defense forces executed "long-range sanctions" on targets near the Russian city of St Petersburg during the night of July 3-4. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he noted that the distance to the strike locations exceeded 850 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. According to Zelenskyy, the strikes hit port oil infrastructure that contributes revenue to Russia's war effort, as well as the military target of Kronstadt. Separate reports from Russian sources earlier indicated a drone attack on a port in Russia's Leningrad Oblast. The Ukrainian president's statement marks one of the deepest strikes into Russian territory since the start of the full-scale invasion, demonstrating Ukraine's growing long-range capability.
