Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday that he had spoken with US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. In a conversation he described on social media platform X as good and important, they discussed how to revive diplomatic efforts and bring peace closer.
Zelensky emphasized that peace is necessary and must come with dignity, adding that Ukraine has long been ready for it. He also noted that Ukrainian and US teams maintain close communication to continue work on the matters discussed.
Meanwhile, US-led talks to resolve the conflict have stalled. Washington's attention is currently focused on the Middle East, while Russia continues to insist firmly that Ukraine cede territory.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that he will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday on the sidelines of a regional summit in Manila. The talks are expected to cover the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
