Zelensky: US proposes preparatory meeting in UAE ahead of trilateral talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to journalists' questions, said the United States has proposed preparing a trilateral negotiation format involving Ukraine, the US and Russia by first holding a meeting at the technical level. According to him, the US has named the United Arab Emirates as the proposed location.
Zelensky said Kyiv is currently awaiting a concrete proposal from Washington regarding the date of the talks.
Background
In early September, the Kremlin said it did not rule out resuming peace talks in a trilateral format between Russia, Ukraine and the US, while adding that it was still too early to discuss the specific location and timing.
On September 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there were currently no preconditions for moving toward a peace track to end the war, though he again repeated that President Zelensky could come to Moscow to negotiate.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23, a representative of Russian media repeatedly shouted at Zelensky asking when he would come to Moscow. According to Deutsche Welle's Ukrainian service, the Ukrainian president responded with a sharp remark, mentioning arriving "by missile," using profanity.
