Zelenskyy warns Russia preparing massive new strike on Ukraine within 48 hours
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said intelligence indicates Russia is readying a large-scale missile attack that could occur within two days, urging citizens to heed air-raid warnings. He also noted Moscow is planning a new mobilization wave for autumn.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned in his evening address on July 24 that Russia is preparing a massive strike on Ukraine. According to intelligence and information from partners, Russian forces have prepared missiles for a new large-scale attack, which could take place within the next 48 hours. Zelenskyy urged Ukrainians to be cautious and pay attention to air-raid warnings.
He also stated that Russia is planning a new wave of mobilization for the autumn to compensate for heavy front-line losses. The president noted that Russian troops are losing more soldiers than they recruit, yet Putin still intends to intensify attacks and expand the war. Zelenskyy called for preparation at all levels: on the front, through long-range sanctions, mid-range strikes, diplomacy, and engagement with allies.
On July 24 at 11:25 a.m., the Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat from the north. Shortly after, reports indicated high-speed aerial targets heading toward Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. Air defense forces intercepted one Russian ballistic missile, while two struck Kyiv Oblast. It later emerged that the strike hit a training ground where an event with weapons manufacturers was taking place. As of 3:00 p.m., 10 people were reported killed and around 100 wounded. Two criminal proceedings have been opened.
Zelenskyy reiterated that Patriot air defense missiles, the only ones capable of intercepting Russian ballistic weapons, remain the number one priority.
