Zelensky Discusses Air Defence Deliveries with NATO Chief in Brussels
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels to discuss Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and new air defence deliveries. He said Russia had launched about 1,000 drones within roughly a day.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels on Thursday. They discussed Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and new deliveries of air defence weapons. NATO is the military alliance of the United States and European countries, and its members provide military support to Ukraine as it faces Russia's invasion.
Zelensky announced the meeting on the social network Facebook. He wrote that Ukraine and NATO are working closely to give the country better defence and security.
New waves of attacks
According to Zelensky, Russia has launched fresh waves of strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, residential buildings and other sites. He said this came despite US President Donald Trump's attempt to reduce the intensity of attacks.
Several waves of ballistic missile strikes have taken place in recent days, and Shahed attack drones are almost constantly in Ukrainian airspace. From midnight the previous day until the time of his statement, Russia had launched about 1,000 drones, he said.
The president acknowledged that the attacks cause considerable difficulties, particularly given restrictions affecting the operation of Starlink in Ukraine.
What Ukraine is seeking
Zelensky stressed that it is very important for defence deliveries from NATO partners to continue. This applies especially to ballistic missile interceptors and ammunition for F-16 fighter jets. Ukraine is working on new air defence supply packages, which he said could save lives.
Zelensky thanked Rutte for his support and readiness to help.
The Ukrainian president came to Brussels to attend a European Union summit. Several other bilateral meetings were also planned during his visit.
