Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, traveling from Norway to Canada, made a stop in Iceland where he met with the country's Foreign Minister at Keflavik Airport. The meeting was reported by Ukraine's presidential office.

Zelensky thanked Iceland for its support and active participation in the Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) format. According to the presidential office, since the start of the full-scale war Iceland has provided 133 million dollars in defense and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, along with more than 24 million dollars for the PURL program.

Winter preparations and energy

During the meeting, Zelensky briefed the minister on Ukraine's needs ahead of winter, naming the strengthening of air defense as the top priority. The sides also discussed energy security and cooperation between the two countries. Ukraine's presidential office noted that the country expects further contributions from Iceland to the Energy Support Fund. Funding already provided by Iceland is being used to purchase a cogeneration unit, power transformers and other energy equipment.

The two also discussed cooperation in the technology sector, with Zelensky offering to share Ukraine's expertise in areas where it has significant experience.

As previously reported, Zelensky and Ukraine's first lady spent Wednesday and Thursday in Norway, where the main occasion was the funeral of King Harald V, attended by numerous foreign guests. Alongside this, the president held a series of meetings, including with heads of defense companies regarding the anti-ballistic program "Freya." Norwegian officials said Zelensky's flight to Norway had been delayed due to drones in Moldovan airspace.
