Zelenskyy hopes Poland and Hungary will support opening clusters in EU talks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that Poland and Hungary will not block the opening of remaining clusters in EU accession negotiations, stating that Ukraine has fulfilled all requirements amid war.

At a press conference with the Irish Prime Minister, who began Ireland's EU Council presidency on July 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine has met all necessary conditions to open all clusters in negotiations with the European Union. He voiced hope that, despite disputes and tense relations, Poland and Hungary will not hinder Ukraine's European integration.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine fulfilled Brussels' demands during wartime, which was challenging. He noted that Ukraine is not only defending itself but also other European countries. The president urged focusing on the present rather than the past, particularly regarding the historical conflict with Poland.
"I hope that Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar supports this. I hope the Polish government supports it. When we have rules, not just political emotions, we must do what we must do," Zelenskyy said. He added that Ukraine's swift EU accession is in the interest of all member states.
Meanwhile, "European Pravda" reports that Hungary continues to block approval of screening results for clusters 2-6 for Ukraine and Moldova within the EU Council's enlargement working group. Sources indicate that Ukraine's plan to open all clusters by July 2026 may fail due to lack of time for necessary negotiations and coordination.
