Zelensky expects Swedish Gripen fighters to arrive soon
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after talks with Sweden's prime minister that Ukraine expects to receive Gripen fighter jets shortly. They are to complement the F-16s, including in shooting down Russian jet-powered Shahed drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his country expects to receive Swedish-made Gripen fighter jets in the near future. He made the statement after a conversation with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The news matters for Ukraine's air defence during Russia's invasion, as the new aircraft would add to its existing fleet.
According to Zelensky, the Gripens will complement the US-made F-16s. Both types of aircraft are meant to help, among other things, destroy Russian jet-powered Shahed drones, which Russia uses to attack Ukraine.
The source does not say how many aircraft are to be delivered, exactly when this will happen, or on what terms. Zelensky said only that deliveries are expected soon.
