Zelensky Expects Swedish Gripen Jets to Be Delivered Soon
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a call with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson that Ukraine expects to receive Gripen fighter jets soon. They will supplement its F-16s, including in shooting down Russian jet-powered Shahed drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on 16 October that Ukraine expects to receive Swedish-made Gripen fighter jets in the near future. He made the statement after speaking with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, as Russia's war against Ukraine continues.
According to Zelensky, the Gripens will complement the F-16 fighters Ukraine already operates. One of their roles will be helping to destroy Russian jet-powered Shahed drones, which Russia uses in attacks.
The source does not say how many aircraft Ukraine will receive or when exactly they will be delivered. Zelensky spoke only of an expected delivery in the near term.
