Zelenskyy nominates Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the candidacy of Serhiy Koretsky, head of Naftogaz, for the post of Prime Minister, following the resignation of the entire government.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the nomination of Serhiy Koretsky, the current head of the state energy company Naftogaz, to serve as Prime Minister of Ukraine. The announcement was made by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, who confirmed that the submission has been received and will be considered shortly in accordance with established procedures.
This nomination comes after the Verkhovna Rada on July 14 supported the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. Under Ukrainian law, the resignation of the prime minister triggers the dismissal of the entire government. According to Ukrainska Pravda, voting on the new Cabinet of Ministers is scheduled for July 16.
President Zelenskyy previously stated that after extensive consultations, he considers Koretsky the most prepared candidate for the position. Koretsky, an experienced energy sector executive, is expected to lead a new government amid ongoing challenges. The parliament must now vote to approve his appointment and the composition of the new Cabinet.
