Zelensky: China warned Putin not to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that China delivered a direct, ultimatum-like warning to Russian leader Vladimir Putin against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

In an interview, Zelensky revealed that Beijing reacted sharply to statements in Russian media speculating about the possible use of nuclear weapons in response to Ukrainian strikes. He noted it was the first time China had issued such a direct, almost ultimatum-like response, insisting that nuclear weapons use is off the table.
The Ukrainian leader said he learned of China's intervention from European leaders at the NATO summit in Turkey, where Beijing's role in ending the war was discussed. He added that he also discussed the matter with U.S. President Donald Trump but preferred to keep the content of their conversation private.
Meanwhile, according to Politico, despite pressure from Russian politicians, Putin has stated that Ukrainian strikes do not cause enough damage to warrant a nuclear response.
