Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address on 6 November that Ukraine has intelligence about a new Russian strike being prepared. According to him, the targets are Ukraine's energy sector, bridges across the Dnipro River and civilian infrastructure. The warning comes during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, with winter approaching.

The president said the Air Force and the Armed Forces overall are preparing to defend the country, but that this is not easy. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine needs interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defence systems. He noted that every agreement and every day matters when it comes to deliveries, and he asked partners not to postpone them.

Retaliatory strikes

Zelenskyy said he had spoken with the team responsible for long-range strikes and announced that corresponding strikes against Russia will follow.

Diplomacy and winter support

The president also mentioned a conversation with the NB8 countries, the Nordic and Baltic states. They have been briefed on Ukraine's needs ahead of winter, and Kyiv is counting on that support arriving.

Ukraine continues trying to organise meetings in formats involving Americans, Europeans and Russians. Zelenskyy acknowledged this is difficult, but said Ukraine must get onto the diplomatic track and move toward ending the war. The work is being coordinated with partners, and Ukraine is doing everything to make peace happen.

Finally, Zelenskyy said he and the Commander-in-Chief are preparing personnel decisions within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He thanked everyone serving Ukraine.
