Zelensky: Every Ukrainian Power Plant Damaged by Russian Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said every power plant in the country has been damaged by Russian strikes. He urged Spain and Latin American countries to urgently supply transformers, cables and generators.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on 5 November that every power plant in Ukraine has been damaged by Russian attacks. Addressing participants of the 30th Ibero-American Summit, which brings together Spain and Latin American countries, he asked for help restoring the country's energy infrastructure as Russia continues to hit it.
Strikes on equipment serving nuclear plants
According to Zelensky, Russian forces are using drones and missiles to hit even the energy equipment on which Ukraine's nuclear power plants depend.
He called on Spain and Latin American countries to quickly deliver transformers, power cables, electrical equipment, and diesel and gas generators. Ukraine is particularly interested in transformers from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia, power cables from Chile, and electrical equipment, cables and generators from Spain.
"We need equipment that works with our power grid. And we need it fast," the president said.
Zelensky asked partners to help set up direct cooperation with companies and to get the supplies to Ukraine as soon as possible.
The day before
On 4 November, Ukraine's Ministry of Energy reported that, because of Russian attacks, the country's nuclear power plants had been forced to reduce their generation capacity. Strikes on substations limited the energy system's ability to transmit and distribute the electricity produced.
