President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not submit the candidacy of Mykhailo Fedorov for the post of Defense Minister, sources in the Servant of the People faction told Ukrainska Pravda. The decision was announced during a faction meeting dedicated to government matters.

According to the sources, the president stated that Fedorov has a systemic conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the army, which cannot be resolved. One meeting participant disclosed that Zelenskyy said it would be ideal to dismiss both Fedorov and Syrskyi, but he cannot do so at present.

Instead of Fedorov, the nomination will be for Ihor Klymenko, who is currently acting Interior Minister. Sources in the faction say Fedorov remains in the president's team, but his future role will become clearer next week.

Earlier, on July 12, Zelenskyy announced the need to renew the Cabinet of Ministers and the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
