Zelensky Names Serhiy Koretsky as Desired Prime Minister Candidate
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Serhiy Koretsky is the best-prepared person for the position of prime minister as the country prepares for winter. Parliament has already dismissed Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

During a joint press conference in Kyiv with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is on a visit to the capital, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky named Serhiy Koretsky as his desired candidate for prime minister. According to Zelensky, preparation for winter is a priority, and Koretsky, after all consultations, is the best-prepared person for the role.
Earlier, Ukrainian media had also mentioned Koretsky as the most likely candidate for the premiership. The Ukrainian parliament voted on Tuesday to dismiss Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. The decision was supported by 258 deputies, with one voting against. Until a new government is approved, the current cabinet will continue to perform its duties.
Sviridenko had led the government for almost a year – parliament approved her appointment on July 17 of the previous year. On Sunday, Zelensky announced that the cabinet's composition would change, emphasizing the need to shift political strategy and make personnel changes.
