Zelensky and Norway's PM discuss strengthening Ukraine's air defense and winter preparations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo. The discussions focused on protecting Ukraine's skies as Russia continues its regular air attacks. According to the presidential press service, the two addressed the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense, the country's need for interceptor missiles, further cooperation under the anti-ballistic missile program FREYJA, and Ukraine's preparations for the coming winter.

Zelensky said the central issue of the negotiations was the defense of Ukraine's airspace, given Russia's ongoing aerial strikes.

During the visit, the Ukrainian president expressed condolences to the Norwegian people and government over the death of King Harald V. He stressed that it was important for him to attend the farewell ceremony on September 9, as Ukraine greatly values the support of the Norwegian royal family and citizens.

As part of his working trip to Oslo, Zelensky is also scheduled to meet with representatives of international defense companies involved in developing the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile system.

Zelensky arrived in Norway with his wife Olena on September 8 to take part in the farewell ceremony for King Harald V.
