Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed laws extending martial law and general mobilisation by another 90 days. The laws take effect on 31 October.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed laws extending martial law and general mobilisation until 29 January 2027. This means the country, which continues to defend itself against Russia's invasion, will keep its special legal regime and military call-ups for the next three months.
The documents, registered on the parliament's website under numbers 16183 and 16182, will come into force on 31 October. Under them, both martial law and general mobilisation are extended by 90 days.
What preceded the decision
On Monday, 26 October, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, backed the bills submitted by the president to extend both measures for a further 90 days.
A total of 293 lawmakers voted to extend martial law, while 281 voted in favour of extending mobilisation.
After the parliamentary vote, the president signed the laws, giving the decision its final form.
