Zelensky: Agreement reached on interceptor missiles for Patriot systems

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting with representatives and leaders of the Ukrainian community in the United States that an agreement has been reached on supplying a package of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The statement was reported by the outlet "Yevropeiska Pravda".

According to Zelensky, this represents a significant new contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air defense. However, the president did not specify which country agreed to provide the assistance.

"Today we agreed — I won't say with whom — on a package of missiles for the Patriot systems. An important decision, very important. There is a result," Zelensky said.

Background

Earlier, after meeting with US President Donald Trump, Zelensky said that Trump was favorably inclined toward granting licenses for Patriot missile production. Later, the US State Department said no final decision had yet been made on granting Ukraine licenses to produce missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

On July 31, Trump, commenting on the possibility of allowing Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptor missiles, said the United States needed to be "very careful" on this issue.
