President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, July 17, expressed gratitude to the US Congress for supporting Senator Lindsey Graham's bill aimed at strengthening sanctions against Russia. In a social media statement, Zelenskyy thanked all Americans working on the document to enhance sanctions and other pressure tools against Russia over the war.

Zelenskyy noted that Senator Graham worked hard to prepare a strong bill and that they discussed it during their meetings. "I remember how important this was to him, and it can truly increase the existing tools to force Russia to diplomacy and peace," the Ukrainian president said. He also stated that US President Donald Trump is "the very person whose strength can bring peace closer."

Earlier this week, details of the updated version of the bill were revealed in the Senate. Media reported that the bill has garnered support from over 60 senators, guaranteeing its success in the Senate. From President Trump, signals emerged indicating readiness to sign the bill out of respect for a deceased colleague. At the same time, Trump expressed a wish to include provisions related to Iran. However, there have been calls in the Senate for quick consideration without additional changes.
