Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked US President Donald Trump, senators and members of the House of Representatives on social media for passing a law imposing new sanctions on Russia. The bill signed by Trump was co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

Zelensky said the best way to honor Graham's memory would be the full and swift implementation of the law's provisions. He added that the best reward for everyone helping pressure Russia to end the war would be peace itself, along with the resolution of all problems and challenges the war has caused.

Graham's calls not to ease pressure

The Ukrainian leader recalled that during his visits to Ukraine, Graham consistently stressed the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia, strengthening sanctions and searching for a path to peace. Zelensky noted this applies especially to countries where decisions are made on purchasing Russian oil, providing financial services to Russia, and allowing Russian companies linked to Putin and the war to conduct ordinary business abroad.

Zelensky also said Senator Graham never doubted that America has enough strength to confront dictators and achieve results when it acts correctly. He stressed that peace comes through strength, calm comes through results, and the best security guarantee is resolve.

He thanked everyone who resolutely defends lives and stands with Ukraine.

Earlier, the US House of Representatives passed the sanctions bill against Russia on September 17, after which President Trump signed it into law.
