Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday, September 4, significant changes in the government. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will step down from her position to coordinate Ukraine's relations with an important foreign partner, without specifying which country.

Zelensky emphasized the need to change the political strategy and carry out personnel reshuffles. Each priority foreign policy direction – relations with the US, the European Union, neighboring countries (including Poland and Hungary), the Middle East and Gulf states, as well as China – will be led by an experienced official.

The president also indicated that changes are expected in the leadership of law enforcement agencies, but did not provide further details.

Svyrydenko, who became prime minister in July 2022 and previously served as deputy prime minister, thanked the president for his trust and high assessment after a meeting with Zelensky. She wrote on Telegram that it is crucial to unite all forces and resources to strengthen Ukraine, and expressed readiness to continue serving the country by defending national interests and bringing closer a just peace.

It is not yet known who will become the new prime minister.
