Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has summarized the results of his meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara. Zelenskyy described the meeting as good and thanked Trump for the "important emphasis on strengthening Ukraine's air defense to enhance the protection of lives."
According to Zelenskyy, they discussed some ideas that could strengthen Ukraine's positions and bring peace closer. He expressed hope that the teams of both countries would promptly work through everything discussed. They also talked about diplomacy and how to make it "work." Zelenskyy added that they would continue to work productively to make this happen.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump stated that the United States would grant Ukraine the right to produce Patriot systems and that the US would purchase drones from Ukraine. Additionally, the US president indicated that he would not mind visiting Ukraine but made it clear that he does not see it as possible during the hot phase of the war.
