Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine's defense forces have begun the process of 'bringing the war back to Russia.' The statement came after a night attack in which Russian authorities reported intercepting nearly 60 Ukrainian drones heading for Moscow, temporarily suspending airport operations in the capital. In total, over 300 drones were downed across Russia.

Meanwhile, a Russian drone attack killed three members of one family, including a 13-year-old boy, in Ukraine's northern Sumy region, according to regional prosecutors.

Separately, Ukraine and Poland are embroiled in a bitter dispute over Kyiv's decision to rename a contemporary Ukrainian army unit after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Poland holds the UPA responsible for ethnic killings of up to 100,000 Poles during World War II, while Ukraine celebrates it for fighting for independence against Soviet forces.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki stripped Zelenskyy of the country's top honor in retaliation, prompting three former Ukrainian presidents to return their state awards to Poland. Nawrocki said Poland had repeatedly signaled the importance of the issue, but Ukraine's position did not change. Zelenskyy, in an interview, warned that the political struggle could lead to a 'very dangerous escalation.' He blamed Nawrocki for engaging in political maneuvers ahead of Poland's 2027 parliamentary elections. 'Without Ukraine, no one will be able to defend Poland. It is simply impossible,' Zelenskyy said.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who distanced himself from Nawrocki's decision, called the rekindling of old disagreements 'a strategic mistake.' Zelenskyy's attendance at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk later this week is now uncertain.
