Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that legislative changes will soon restore mandatory asset declarations for law enforcement officers and security force personnel who are not fighting at the front.
Decision following a meeting
Zelensky said he held a meeting on further legislative steps and that several decisions need to be made. According to him, a decision will be adopted restoring the declaration requirement for law enforcement and security force members not engaged in combat, to an extent that will genuinely allow monitoring of their property status and lifestyle.
Additional checks ordered
Zelensky added that he instructed Ukraine's Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky to review all heads of central executive authorities, both those already appointed and acting officials.
Background
In August 2026, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft law proposing that declarations of individuals carrying out tasks in the interest of national security and defense be made public a year after martial law is lifted. The new statement suggests plans to change this arrangement sooner and more broadly.
