Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on X that Ukraine's defence forces carried out a large-scale overnight operation against Russia's Moscow region, deploying ten different types of long-range weapons.

Oil facility and logistics site hit

According to Zelenskyy, the strikes hit one of Russia's key oil industry facilities as well as a logistics site in the Moscow region. The weapons used in the operation included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen and Pelican.

The operation involved Ukraine's Security Service, the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, Defence Intelligence and the Foreign Intelligence Service. Zelenskyy also said a facility in Russia's Voronezh Oblast had been struck, though he gave no further details.

Major fire reported in Moscow

Earlier reports described a large drone assault on Moscow and the wider Moscow region. A significant fire broke out at the Sofyino logistics technopark, and the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district also caught fire, reportedly after a strike hit its AVT-6 processing unit.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the Russian capital had suffered the largest drone attack it has faced to date.
