Zelenskyy: Important defence agreements reached with Germany
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said key agreements on strengthening defence cooperation were reached with Germany during Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on social media platform X that important agreements had been reached between Ukraine and Germany on strengthening defence, as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Kyiv on 4 October.
Zelenskyy thanked Germany for its support so far and said preparations were underway for decisions that would give Ukraine, and Europe as a whole, greater capability to defend themselves. He stressed that Russia must be stopped through joint effort, adding that significant agreements between Ukraine and Germany would follow.
Planned support
According to German news agency dpa, Merz intends to commit to further financial and military support during the visit. This includes the delivery of thousands of interceptor drones and speeding up production of long-range weapons.
Merz recently said he was working on solutions to reinforce Ukraine's air defence, which he described as currently Kyiv's greatest weakness.
