One person killed in road traffic accident in Zemgale
Latvia recorded one fatal and five non-fatal road traffic accidents over the past day, while police detained six drunk drivers.

A road traffic accident in Zemgale yesterday resulted in one fatality. Further details about the circumstances have not been released.
In total, five people were injured in traffic accidents across Latvia: two in Kurzeme, and one each in the Riga region, Zemgale, and Latgale. Among the injured were two pedestrians, one cyclist, and one e-scooter rider.
Police detained six drivers under the influence of alcohol. The highest number of such offenders was caught in the Riga region and Kurzeme. Four of those detained face criminal charges, resulting in the confiscation of their vehicles or a fine equivalent to the vehicle's value.
A total of 177 speeding tickets were issued: 20 in the Riga region, 57 in Vidzeme, 44 in Zemgale, 35 in Kurzeme, and 21 in Latgale. Six drivers were fined for aggressive driving.
Overall, police issued 516 administrative violation reports for road traffic offenses yesterday.
