"Zemgale"/LBTU and "Capitals" claim victories in OHL games

In Wednesday's Optibet Hockey League games, "Zemgale"/LBTU convincingly beat Riga HS/"Dinaburga" at home, while Kyiv's "Capitals" defeated Riga's "Prizma".

Wednesday's Optibet Hockey League (OHL) fixtures saw wins for both "Zemgale"/LBTU and Kyiv's "Capitals".

The Jelgava-based team dominated at home, defeating Riga HS/"Dinaburga" 7:0, with period scores of 3:0, 1:0 and 3:0. Several players contributed to the scoreline, including Patriks Zabusovs and Aleksandrs Novikovs, who each scored two goals and added an assist. Also finding the net were Lauris Bajaruns, Patriks Seilis and Mārtiņš Antons. Goaltender Aksels Ozols made all 14 saves he faced, securing a shutout.

Meanwhile in Piņķi, "Capitals" edged out Riga's "Prizma" 6:3, with the period score progressing 1:1, 4:2 and 1:0 in the visitors' favor. Deivids Sarkanis stood out for "Capitals" with four assists, while goals came from Eduards Hugo Jansons, Iļja Korenčuks, Mihailo Kovalčuks, Kevins Strādnieks, Ville Rautiala and Vitālijs Andreikivs. For "Prizma", Roberts Vītols, Roberts Jekimovs and Emīls Ločmelis scored.

Standings

Following these results, "Mogo"/RSU remains at the top of the standings with 11 points from six games. Kyiv's "Capitals" follow with ten points from the same number of matches. "Zemgale"/LBTU and the "Liepāja Hockey Team" share third place, each with six points from three and six games respectively. The regular season consists of a four-round format with each team playing 32 games, after which the top six teams advance to the playoffs. The playoff winner will be crowned Baltic champion, while the best-placed Latvian and Lithuanian teams will be recognized as their respective national champions.
