All Driving Lanes on Zemitāns Bridge to Open; Pedestrians and Cyclists Still Wait
Vehicle traffic on Jorģis Zemitāns Bridge is now allowed in all lanes, but pedestrians and cyclists remain restricted as construction of pavements, cycle paths, and other features continues.

The Riga municipality has announced that the reconstruction of Jorģis Zemitāns Bridge is in its final phase. From now on, vehicle traffic can operate at full capacity using all driving lanes. However, pedestrian and bicycle movement is not yet permitted.
The restriction remains in place because work continues on paving sidewalks and cycle paths, installing bridge railings and glass protective walls, and building connections to the "Zemitāni" mobility point, including stairs, elevators, and escalators.
The total project cost is approximately €24.2 million. The goal is to improve the bridge's technical condition and safety, as well as to create modern infrastructure with cycle paths, wider sidewalks, and full accessibility.
Until construction is complete, pedestrians are advised to use the nearby railway station footbridge or public transport. The municipality urges residents and drivers to plan their trips in advance and follow information about restrictions on the "riga.lv" website under "Traffic Restrictions".
