Agriculture Ministry and LLKC launch autumn forum series on growth plan

Latvia's Ministry of Agriculture (ZM), together with the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LLKC), is launching an autumn series of forums continuing the regional conference cycle on the Agriculture Growth Plan for 2026-2036 that began in spring. The first of four planned events will take place on August 28 at the Ludza Culture House, Stacijas iela 41.

In spring, ZM and LLKC held conferences presenting the growth plan and discussing challenges in implementing it. Over the summer, industry groups worked on developing their own sector strategies. The autumn events will differ from the spring format: rather than presentations and panel discussions, they are planned as more open, informal conversations about how the growth plan should be carried out, taking into account the specific situation in each region.

Focus on dialogue

Liene Jansone, acting state secretary of ZM, said the autumn discussions are not a progress report but an opportunity to confirm that the plan is moving in step with what farmers actually experience. LLKC board chairman Mārtiņš Cimermanis noted that the climate, global order and the way agricultural support is planned are all changing, with funding increasingly tied to measurable results rather than being as broadly available as before. He said the sector needs to act proactively rather than wait to be caught off guard by change.

Each of the four events is open to farmers, agricultural cooperatives, processing companies and representatives of industry NGOs. Registration is available online.

After Ludza, further regional events will be held on September 18 in Dobele, September 25 in Cēsis, and October 1 in Kuldīga. Exact venues and times for these will be announced separately.
