Donor-funded summer camps bring joy to children of Ukrainian war soldiers in Latvia

This summer, thanks to donor support, five summer camps have already been organized in Latvia for children of Ukrainian soldiers currently serving on the front line. The 22 children taking part have fathers serving in Ukraine's largest artillery brigade, stationed in the Donetsk region, which is described as defending the freedom of both Ukraine and Latvia.

A break from wartime reality

For children whose everyday lives are shaped by war, spending time in Latvia offers a chance to simply be children again. They find joy in walks in nature, swimming in clear sea water, and something many take for granted — a day without hearing an air raid siren.

Made possible by donors

The camps have been made possible through donor contributions, which allowed five such camps to take place over the course of a single summer. The initiative reflects continued public solidarity with the families of Ukrainian soldiers as the war continues.
