Pothole-ridden road in Ziemupe hinders tourism

In the coastal village of Ziemupe, local entrepreneurs and residents are pointing to a serious problem – the pothole-ridden road that is hindering tourism development. The road condition has deteriorated to such an extent that holidaymakers are canceling their pre-booked reservations or choosing other destinations.
Locals say the poor road has become an obstacle not only for tourism but also for everyday life. Business owners find it difficult to attract visitors, as the bad road creates a negative impression.
Meanwhile, 'Latvijas Valsts ceļi' (LVC) has no plans to make significant investments in repairing this road. LVC representatives explain that the road should be handed over to the municipality's responsibility, rather than being part of the state road network. This position has led to a situation where neither the state nor the municipality takes responsibility for road improvements, leaving local residents and businesses without a solution.
The issue is pressing because Ziemupe is a popular seaside tourist destination, and due to the bad road, potential revenue is being lost. Locals hope an agreement will be reached between state authorities and the municipality to repair the road and promote tourism development in the region.
