Film director Rihards Pīks's farewell ceremony date announced
Sarmīte Pīka, wife of film director and former European Parliament member Rihards Pīks, has announced that his farewell ceremony will take place on September 12 at the Riga crematorium. She also shared words reflecting his vision for Latvia's future.
Following the death of film director, politician and former European Parliament member Rihards Pīks, his family has begun preparing for a farewell ceremony. His wife, Sarmīte Pīka, announced on Facebook that the farewell will be held on Saturday, September 12, at 12:00 at the Riga crematorium hall.
In her post, Sarmīte Pīka also shared words that reflect her husband's outlook on Latvia and its future. According to her, Rihards Pīks believed that Latvia should look beyond its own borders and act for the good of the country in the belief that this also benefits Europe and the world. He reportedly wished for people to fulfill their dreams for Latvia's future.
Rihards Pīks was known both as a film director and a politician, with a career spanning Latvia's cultural life as well as its political sphere. News of his death was reported earlier by media outlets.
