Latvia's U20 hockey team learns World Championship group schedule

The match schedule for Latvia's U20 ice hockey team at next year's World Championship in Canada has been confirmed. Latvia will compete in one group alongside Canada, Czechia, Norway and Switzerland, while the other group features the United States, Finland, Germany, Slovakia and Sweden.

Match calendar

Latvia will open the group stage on December 27 against Czechia. Two days later, in the night to December 29, they will face host nation Canada. A match against Norway follows on December 30, and the group stage concludes on December 31 with a game against Switzerland. All four of Latvia's group matches will be played in Edmonton, while the other group's games take place in Red Deer.

The tournament runs from December 26 this year through January 5, 2027. Quarterfinals and the relegation decider are scheduled for January 2, semifinals for January 4, and medal games will close out the tournament on January 5.

Previous results

At the last U20 World Championship, Latvia reached the quarterfinals, where the team lost 3:6 to then-champions Sweden. Latvia finished seventh overall, matching its best-ever result at this level of competition.
