Traffic restrictions planned in Alūksne for Knowledge Day
On September 1, several streets in Alūksne will be closed or restricted for a few hours due to Knowledge Day celebrations and a student procession. The municipality is urging residents to walk to the event instead of driving.

The new school year at Ernsts Gliks Alūksne State Gymnasium will begin on September 1 with a joint gathering inside the school. Afterwards, students, parents and teachers from all three school buildings will walk together in a procession to the square by the administrative building, where the official Knowledge Day ceremony will take place.
Traffic changes
To ensure the event runs safely and smoothly, traffic restrictions will be in place in Alūksne from 9:00 to 11:00. During this period, the section of Dārza Street between Tirgotāju Street and Helēnas Street will be fully closed to vehicles.
Additionally, from 9:45 to 10:30, traffic will be restricted along two further routes: from Glika Street 10 via Jāņkalna, Lielā Ezera and Helēnas streets to Dārza Street, and from Kanaviņu Street 14 via Latgales Street to Dārza Street.
Call to residents
Given the planned restrictions and the expected number of procession participants, the municipality is encouraging those attending the event to leave their cars at home and walk instead.
