Jānis Geste, a journalist at Latvian Television (LTV), has returned to TV screens after a longer break. In an interview with the magazine Jauns & Privāts, he explained why, since April, he had appeared less regularly than before on the LTV1 programme "Panorāma". The portal Apollo.lv reported on the matter on 5 November 2026.
Health problems kept him away from work
Geste told the magazine that serious health problems had temporarily prevented him from carrying out his duties. The source does not say what the problems were.
Describing his present situation, the journalist said everything is still in progress and that he is gradually resuming work. He also said he is very grateful to be able to meet his viewers again.
Colleagues stood in during his absence
Geste has worked at Latvian Television for more than twenty years. While he was away, his duties were carried out by Ilze Dobele and Laura Vonda.
A fuller interview with the journalist appears in the 3 November issue of Jauns & Privāts.
