Zverev and Fearnley to Meet in Wimbledon Semifinals
Alexander Zverev and Arthur Fearnley advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals. Fearnley, ranked 114th, became only the second wildcard to reach the men's singles semifinals at Wimbledon.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Wimbledon Championships saw two men's singles semifinalists determined. Germany's Alexander Zverev, ranked world No. 3, defeated American Taylor Fritz (world No. 7) 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, British wildcard Arthur Fearnley, ranked 114th, dominated Italy's Flavio Cobolli (world No. 10) 6-4, 7-6 (7:4), 6-0.
Fearnley, 23, became only the second wildcard to reach the Wimbledon men's singles semifinals after Croatia's Goran Ivanisevic in 2001, who went on to win the title. Fearnley ended the match with an ace and said afterwards that "in the last game, I felt emotions I have never experienced in my life."
The two will now face each other in the semifinals. The other semifinal will feature world No. 8 Novak Djokovic of Serbia against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy. Wimbledon is the third Grand Slam of the season, played on grass courts.
