Sword attack at Swedish school leaves several injured

On Friday, August 21, a man armed with a sword entered a school in the Swedish municipality of Fagersta and injured several people, local authorities reported. News agencies cited Sweden's public broadcaster SVT.
A police spokesperson confirmed that one person was detained at the scene and that there is no longer any danger to the public. According to available information, police shot the attacker in the leg, Reuters reported.
Injuries
Local authorities said two teenagers under the age of 18 were taken to hospital. Their condition is described as serious but stable. At least one more person was injured, though the severity of those injuries has not yet been specified.
The attack occurred shortly after the school reopened following summer break — for some students, it was their first day at the gymnasium (upper secondary school).
