A severe thunderstorm swept through the Skåne region in southern Sweden on Sunday, causing an incident at the Tosselilla amusement park in Österlen. According to park officials, lightning struck a tree within the park grounds, and falling branches hit a group of people passing by.
The park issued a statement on Facebook saying no one suffered life-threatening injuries. However, local authorities reported that a 45-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The Skåne health service added that two other people were also hospitalized, while two adults and five children sought medical attention for minor injuries.
The park had been preparing for the storm and had ensured visitors were not on rides or in pools when the lightning struck. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute had issued warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain across large parts of southern Sweden on Sunday.
