Preliminary results from Latvia's Central Election Commission (CVK) show the Apvienotais saraksts winning the 15th Saeima election with 35.30% of the vote, putting it on course for an estimated 42 of the 100 seats in the new parliament. The figures, updated on the morning of October 4, are based on results from 1,027 of the country's 1,059 polling stations.

Six parties clear the threshold

Six political parties have surpassed the five-percent threshold required to enter parliament. The second-strongest showing came from "Latvija pirmajā vietā" (Latvia First), with 13.12% of the vote and a projected 17 seats, followed by "Suverēnā vara / Apvienība Jaunlatvieši" with 11.73% and 15 seats. The National Alliance secured 8.89% and 10 seats, the Progressives took 7.81% and 9 seats, while New Unity rounds out the list of six with 6.33% and 7 seats.

The Greens and Farmers' Union received 4.43% of the vote, currently placing it just below the threshold and provisionally outside parliament. The remaining seven parties that contested the election also failed to clear the five-percent mark. The CVK has noted that final results and the seat distribution may still be adjusted once all polling stations have reported.

Strong showing in Aizkraukle region as well

The Apvienotais saraksts also performed strongly in the Aizkraukle municipality, where it received 4,744 votes, or 39.63% of valid ballots, finishing first in all 22 of the region's polling stations. "Latvija pirmajā vietā" placed second locally with 11.02%, while the National Alliance came third with 9.75%.

Turnout in the Aizkraukle municipality reached 11,979 voters, or 53.79% of those eligible to vote, with 11,822 valid ballots cast for party lists. The CVK reiterated that all figures remain preliminary.
