The most ambitious NATO emerging technology exhibition to date is taking place this year in Ādaži, Latvia. NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a military alliance of allied countries. Three times more Latvian and allied companies are taking part than before, and the main theme is the use of artificial intelligence in defence.

Artificial intelligence on the battlefield

AI is at the centre of the exhibition. On the battlefield, the technology can significantly speed up the exchange of information and make decision-making easier, which is why this area is the focus of the event.

An experiment involving soldiers

A technology experiment is also being held alongside the exhibition and is now in its second week. Soldiers from Latvia's and allied armed forces are working with technology manufacturers to test drones, communications technology and other new developments in the defence sector.

The event therefore combines two parts: a showcase of solutions offered by companies and a practical trial in which soldiers themselves use the new devices and systems.
