As World Hepatitis Day approaches, doctors at Austrumu slimnīca remind that liver health is endangered by alcohol consumption and viral hepatitis. The only way to ensure that hepatitis B or C has not become a silent killer is to get blood tests.

Ahead of World Hepatitis Day, specialists at Austrumu slimnīca are urging the public to pay attention to liver health. According to them, the liver is most threatened by two factors: alcohol intake and viral hepatitis. While the choice to drink or not is a personal one, hepatitis often progresses without noticeable symptoms, turning into a silent danger. Doctors emphasize that only blood tests can provide reassurance that hepatitis B or C has not taken hold in the body and is not causing long-term damage. Regular check-ups, especially among at-risk groups, can help detect the infection early and prevent serious liver diseases such as cirrhosis or cancer.
