Actor Kaspars Zāle opens up about coping after litigation and insolvency
Actor Kaspars Zāle has spoken about a difficult period in his life that began with a legal dispute with the Dailes Theatre and ended in insolvency proceedings. He now works at a school and directs part of his income toward creditor obligations.

In the interview show "Un tā tas sākās," actor Kaspars Zāle spoke candidly about a difficult chapter of his life that followed a legal dispute with the Dailes Theatre.
The dispute concerned his reinstatement in his position and compensation for downtime. Although Zāle initially hoped for a favorable outcome, the court's decision was later changed, leaving him facing significant financial obligations.
From litigation to insolvency
Zāle had existing loans, but his income was not sufficient to cover all his financial commitments, which led to the start of an insolvency process. To secure official income as quickly as possible, the actor took a job at a school — an opportunity that arose after former colleagues invited him to join.
"I never in my life thought I would work as a teacher at a school," Zāle admitted. Part of his current income now goes toward covering his obligations to creditors.
Looking back without regret
The actor says that knowing what he knows now, he probably would not be able to go through the same path again in exactly the same way. Still, that does not mean he regrets the choices he made at the time. Zāle believes every experience becomes part of a person's life journey, and this difficult period also gave him valuable lessons — about how various systems function and about how he wants to shape his life going forward.
