Alūksne to Turn into a Festival City for Four Days from July 30 to August 2

Alūksne will become a festival city from July 30 to August 2, offering a diverse program for the city festival “Log into Alūksne!”. Each day has its own motto reflecting the atmosphere.

Thursday, July 30 – “#log in”

The festival begins with the traditional illuminated bike ride “Light Up Alūksne!”, where participants are encouraged to decorate their bicycles. A separate safe distance will be provided for the youngest cyclists. The evening will feature a Green Trials bike show, youth activities, a children's performance, and a card game tournament at the Barona barn. The day ends with folk music by the band “Svērte” and DJ ED Veto.

Friday, July 31 – “#switch on Alūksne”

Friday includes 3x3 basketball competitions at Pilssala stadium, evening concerts by Miks Galvanovskis and the band “Laika upe”, as well as jazz music at the Barona barn. At the New Castle park by the pond, a musical laser show will be displayed from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Organizers recommend watching without rushing to avoid crowding.

Saturday, August 1 – “#stream the festival”

Saturday has the busiest program. A crafts market will operate near the New Castle, accompanied by a brass band concert, sports activities “Move in Alūksne!”, and Pump Track competitions at the bike park. Children can enjoy creative workshops, textile upcycling, and a free book exchange. The municipality will welcome families with newborns, followed by a musical performance and a foam party. History enthusiasts can attend a museum lecture, while emergency services equipment will be on display. In the evening, the Barona barn will host the Easter brass orchestra, and at Pilssala stage, the “Legendary Night in Alūksne 2026” will feature bands “BET BET”, “Apvedceļš”, Fiņķis, Kapteinis Reinis, and DJ Roberts Lejasmeijers.

Sunday, August 2 – “#connect memory”

Sunday will feature cemetery festivals at Alūksne's large and small cemeteries, while at Tempļakalns by the lake, a closing concert will be held with artists Didzis Bičevskis, Zintis Žvarts, and Romāns Vendiņš.

Traffic Restrictions and Free Buses

Traffic restrictions will be in place on some streets during the festival; more information is available on the municipality's website. On August 2, additional free buses will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the route from the bus station to the cemeteries, funded by the Alūksne Municipality. Residents are encouraged to use this service or walk to the cemeteries.

Property owners are invited to raise the Latvian national flag or the flag of Alūksne during the festival days.
