Amanda Serrano to end career with fight in native Puerto Rico
Puerto Rican boxer Amanda Serrano will defend her WBO and WBA featherweight world titles against Australia's Skye Falzon in San Juan on January 9. It will be her final fight.

Professional boxing world champion Amanda Serrano of Puerto Rico will have the last fight of her career on January 9. She will defend her unified WBO and WBA (two boxing governing bodies) featherweight world titles against Australian contender Skye Falzon at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, the Puerto Rican capital. The bout will run over 12 three-minute rounds, the same format used in men's championship fights.
Falzon's record stands at 12 wins and 2 losses, with seven wins by knockout. Serrano will also aim to break the all-time women's knockout record.
Career achievements
Serrano holds a Guinness World Record for winning world titles in seven weight divisions. She is the first and only Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to become undisputed world champion.
In 2022 she and Ireland's Katie Taylor headlined the first women's boxing match at Madison Square Garden in New York. Their rivalry continued with a rematch in 2024 and a third fight in 2025, which headlined an all-women's card at the same arena. In 2023 she took part in the first women's unified world title bout over 12 three-minute rounds, and later voluntarily gave up her WBC title rather than abandon her commitment to fighting under the same rules as male champions.
Serrano said boxing had been her life, and thanked her manager and trainer Jordan Maldonado, along with Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, founders of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). She said there was still work to do and that she would keep fighting for the next generation after retiring. Ending her career at home in Puerto Rico, she said, means everything to her.
Bidarian and Paul described Serrano as the most accomplished female boxer of all time and noted she was MVP's first signee.
